As I touched on a couple weeks ago the PRTO was in the process of finalizing a regulated trike fare schedule.  Well it has materialized and trike drivers are currently in the process of switching over to the new system.  The transportation section has more information on the new trike fares.

ANGELES CITY -- Tricycle drivers and operators here have started securing new fare matrix from the Public Transportation and Regulatory Office (PTRO) amid the implementation of an amended city ordinance regulating the operation of tricycles in the city.

PTRO officer in charge Edgardo Sibug said the tricycle drivers, numbering to about 7,500, will be given two weeks (November 17 until November 28) to secure the new fare matrix.

Mayor Francis "Blueboy" Nepomuceno ordered the strict implementation of City Ordinance 230, series 2008 known as "An Ordinance Amending Ordinance Number 27 Series of 1992 regulating the operation of tricycle for hire by fixing tricycle fares within the city boundaries."

The ordinance also states that students, disabled persons and senior citizens shall be charged with a discounted rate.

"I appeal to 'colorum' tricycles and new applicants to apply for their Motorized Tricycle Operators Permit (MTOP) before the PTRO conduct operation against them," Sibug said.

Nepomuceno recently unveiled a tricycle terminal outpost signage of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (Toda) along Apo Road corner Rue de Paree Street in Barangay Santo Domingo here.

Some 150 signboards will be posted in different Toda terminal for the public to know the right tricycle fare.

The PTRO and Angeles City Political Affairs Office (Acpao) will open their hotlines to the public for any complaint and reports violating the tricycle fare matrix, Nepomuceno said.
